Terms of Service
Last updated: 25 July 2026
TestReaders is a service operated by Productimiser Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales and based in London, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). These terms govern your use of TestReaders and the reading tests we sell. By ordering a test you agree to them. They're written to be read, not to hide things.
1. The service
You send us a manuscript and a description of its intended market. We recruit five vetted readers matched to that market, each of whom reads the manuscript independently and answers a structured set of questions. We compile their responses and inline comments into a single test report and deliver it to your email within 14 days of payment and receipt of a readable manuscript file.
2. Price and payment
The price shown at the time of order (currently £149 per test for manuscripts up to 80,000 words) is the whole price. No subscription, no recurring charges. Longer manuscripts may be quoted individually before you pay. Payment is due before the test begins.
3. Refunds
If you're not happy with the report, tell us within 7 days of delivery and we'll refund you in full. Details are in the Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
4. Your manuscript, your rights
You keep 100% of the rights to your manuscript. Ordering a test grants us only the limited licence needed to run it: sharing the file with your five assigned readers and quoting passages inside your own test report. Every reader signs a confidentiality agreement before seeing a word. We delete manuscript files after the report is delivered, as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. What you promise us
- You own the manuscript or have the right to submit it for review.
- It doesn't contain unlawful material or someone else's work passed off as yours.
- You won't attempt to identify, contact, or harass the readers.
We may decline or refund a test that violates the above, or that our readers cannot reasonably be asked to complete.
6. The report
The report reflects the honest opinions of five individual readers. It is feedback, not a guarantee of sales, publication, or critical reception — and not professional editing, legal, or business advice. You may quote from your own report; readers are anonymised in it and stay that way.
7. Liability
Our total liability for any claim arising from a test is limited to the price you paid for that test. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Changes and termination
We may update these terms; the version in force when you order is the one that applies to that order. We may stop offering the service at any time, which won't affect tests already paid for.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — though nothing in this clause takes away consumer rights you're entitled to where you live.
